Leatherback sea turtles are the largest turtles on earth reaching up to 7 feet and weighing 2,000 lbs.  These giant turtles can trace their evolutionary roots back 100 million years.  Leatherback turtles are dispersed globally more than any other turtles, due to adaptations that allow them to acclimate to diverse environments.  
 
Leatherback sea turtles can live up to 45 years but often meet anearly demise due to human activities, such as pollution, fishing nets, and poaching.
